Grain offering: read Lv 2.

Today we will focus on the Grain Offering, or another name is: Meal Offering.

In the series of The Offerings we have started with the Guilt- and Sin Offering, and then we went last time to the Peace Offering. With the Grain Offering and the Burnt Offering (that we will review a next time) we will complete the picture that portrays all the aspects of the concept of offering.
It is important to understand that all the above mentioned types of sacrifices do not have value in them selves but are just shadows of and fore pointing to the Real Sacrifice, Jesus Christ. After all, as we know from Hb 10:4, the blood of bulls and rams could not take away sins. Only the blood of Christ can!

Peace offering: Lv 3

Looking at the above scheme we see that with the Peace Offering there is a transition from the already discussed Guilt offering and Sin offering to the other two remaining sacrifices: Grain- and Burnt Offering. The Guilt- and Sin Offering were focusing on how to avoid death as result of sin and were therefore compulsory sacrifices if one wanted to stay alive. They referred to the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. His perfect sacrifice was and is the only way to escape from the consequence of sin: death.
In the symbol of the baptism we identify ourselves with Him. Putting off the body of sin that was kept as slave of rebellion against the Lord, we die with Christ. This makes us free from the bondage of sin.

Definiamo innanzitutto come apologetica il rendere conto della speranza che abbiamo in Cristo a coloro i quali ce lo chiedono.

Analizziamo le altre 7 caratteristiche di una Chiesa sana, così come descritta da Paolo all'inizio del secondo capitolo della lettera ai Colossesi

1. Chiesa che conosce Cristo: è il punto centrale del discorso. Cristo è il fondamento di una Chiesa sana. Questo vuol drie che dobbiamo guardare il mondo attraverso gli occhi di Gesù. Dobbiamo discernere le cose che il mondo ci presenta non con il punto di vista del mondo ma con uello di Gesù.
2. Non si inganna: come Colosse era deviata dalla dottrina degli gnostici (Gesù non è Dio), anche tutte le Chiese sono deviate dai pensieri del mondo. Una Chiesa che non s'inganna è una Chiesa che ha come fondamento Gesù.

All'inizio del secondo capitolo della lettera che Paolo scrive ai Colossesi troviamo l'amore di Paolo per la Chiesa e la caratteristiche di questo amore. Oggi analizziamo le prime 3 caratteristiche di questo amore che è azione, attiva partecipazione.

1. chi è più responsabile (anziani, diaconi, ...) non ha una posizione di privilegio ma d'esempio. Paolo per la Chiesa è stato frustrato, bastonato, lapidato, messo in prigione, ucciso.
2. la consolazione dei cuori. Tutti dobbiamo accorgerci delle sofferenze dei nostri fratelli e sorelle nella Chiesa ed essere di consolazione per loro. Non è un compito riservato agli anziani ma tutti devono dedicarsi.

Sin offering: Lev 4:1-35
